The Eye of the Beholder

Beauty!  What does it mean?  What is it and how can we get it? In today's world it is becoming far to easy to fall into the trap of sameness where women and girls feel that they have to look a certain way to be considered pretty.  You need bigger lips, smaller waists and bigger... well you know what I mean! ;)  I have felt this pressure and as a mom to two beautiful little girls I have had enough!

I made the choice when I created my first design to use only natural gemstones and minerals. One of the things I love about the natural gemstones I use is the uniqueness and beauty they have.  I know that as women we are always doubting ourselves, our worth.  We compare ourselves to other women we think are happy, successful, organized, or pretty.  In my jewelry I hope to create a symbol for the beauty I see in the women I meet.  Each stone is a little different.  Two emeralds can have entirely different shades of green, different polishing, different luster, but both be incredibly beautiful all the same!  They don't compete or try to outshine each other.  They are each beautiful in their own miraculous and breathtaking way. So are you!

I know how hard it can be to feel pretty. To feel special.  We want to be unique.  I think that we can all find that in ourselves. The beautiful gemstones I design with remind me every day that we are all special.  We are all beautiful.  Each of us in our own uniquely perfect way.  That is my message.  That is the message I want my daughters to remember.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you my lovelies, are the beholders!
